Skating Sessions

The Warcats Hockey Association will be offering two types of skating programs prior to the upcoming 2025-2026 season.

The first skating program will be the Pre-Tryout Skates. This program is optional and will offer the following benefits for your hockey player:

·      Skill Refinement: Focus on puck handling, passing, shooting, and defensive techniques.

·      Skating Fundamentals: Work on edge control, agility, speed, and acceleration.

·      Game Awareness: Develop better positioning and awareness on the ice.

·      Get in Tryout Shape: A chance to sharpen fitness and conditioning for higher performance during tryouts.

·      Increased Confidence: Familiarity with the drills and game situations typically seen during tryouts.

The second skating program will be the Summer Skates. This program is optional and available to any individual looking to improve their skills prior to the start of the hockey season. These sessions will offer the following benefits for your hockey player:

·      Improved Skating Technique: Focused time on skating fundamentals (stride, edges, stops, and starts) can help players of all levels refine their skating ability, which is the foundation of hockey performance.

·      Increased Speed and Agility: Regular summer sessions provide the opportunity to build explosive speed and improve agility on the ice, which is critical for both offensive and defensive players.

·      Conditioning and Stamina: Skating sessions help increase cardiovascular endurance, helping players skate longer and harder throughout the season without tiring out as quickly.

·      Better Puck Control and Stickhandling: By working on skating and puck control at the same time, players can improve their ability to handle the puck while skating at full speed, a key skill for game situations.

·      Enhanced Balance and Body Positioning: Skating drills focus on improving balance and posture, which helps players stay stable during high-speed plays, check battles, and tight turns.

·      Confidence Boost: Spending time improving fundamental skills in a low-pressure setting can help players feel more confident when stepping onto the ice during the season.
